On the north side of the island you may find Naoussa, a peaceful fishing village, where locals enjoy everyday life. It is one of the most attractive spots in Naoussa that has kept its traditional character and authenticity, offering you a different experience and a different perspective to Greek island life.
While wondering around the port, someone may see whitewashed and flowered little houses and octopus drying out of the traditional little taverns and ouzeries. Eating a meal and drinking ouzo by the water, watching the picturesque port with its small boats will make you one of the locals in no time !

In Naoussa , you will also find the remains of The Venetian Fort, located in the old port . Originally constructed in the 15th century by the Venetians, the fortress was used as a watchtower for pirate and enemy attacks and as a front line in times of war. The original version’s location was very convenient for surveying the Aegean Sea while due to its architecture, it was very difficult for enemy ships to approach the close port where commercial ships used to moor.

Today the only part of this fort that survives is a half-submerged watchtower that is connected to the mainland with a short path.
